ADDITIVE MANUFACTURING (3D PRINTING)

Main focus of investigation are focused on Fused Filament Deposition, including plastic filaments without reinforcement and plastic filaments with continuous fiber reinforcement. Studies are focused in following aspects:

  • Development of high performant materials (PEEK, PEKK, PEI, etc.) with and without continuous fiber reinforcement. 
  • Definition of manufacturing processes, compatible with 3D printing FFF technology and materials, and to ensure the quality and performances required by the aeronautical industry.

  • Design of 3D FFF printing machine, able to process new materials and to manufacture big size parts.

 

Nowadays, an internal prototype developed together with AIRBUS OPERATION SL and able to process several thermoplastics materials (ABS, PLA, PEI, PEEK, PEKK) with and without continuous fiber reinforcement is available at FIDAMC.
